U2 guitarist the Edge may have finally found what he was looking for — and it’s the sweetest thing. He and Ali Hewson, the activist and businesswoman wife of his U2 bandmate Bono, have just whacked €300,000 into Alison Stroh’s Greystones-based health food business Dr Coy’s.

After realising that guilt-free snacking was the big gap in the nutrition market, Dubliner Stroh teamed up with German health guru Dr Johannes Coy in 2014 to develop a range of chocolate bars that are actually good for you — and, unlike most health bars, don’t taste like discarded gym shoes.

The range has since expanded into cooking ingredients, other nut- and fruit-based snacks, and energy supplements, many of which are available in Applegreen stations and other retailers. Ryanair has also started to stock the Dr Coy’s mint chocolate and coconut bars.

By all accounts, these healthy alternatives are even better than the real thing.
