Dr. Coy’s is run by one savvy sister Alison and her sporty brother Aaron.
When our founder Alison was pregnant with her first child in Germany, she wanted more than ever to eat a nutritious diet and cut out as much as possible refined sugar. Yet she didn’t want to give up chocolate and of course all the wonderful benefits like antioxidants and polyphenols it offers. She heard Dr. Coy speak at a conference and discuss the rare sugars he had used in chocolate which were better for you than regular sugar. This was genius. Alison felt women too often felt guilt by just eating chocolate. Dr. Coy had the answer: he had developed a chocolate recipe with all the benefits of cacao without the nasty side effects from sugar. In 2014 Alison and Dr. Johannes Coy started working together to make this chocolate accessible.
The real juicy benefit is that this coconut bar offers sustained energy without spikes and crashes in blood sugars. They also added in a plant based fibre to keep you fuller for longer and 40% of your required daily amount of Vitamin E. Just what the doctor ordered!

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has authorised two health claims which can be used in relation to Dr. Coy's chocolate.
Health Benefit No.1: Eating Foods with isomaltulose instead of other sugars induces a lower blood glucose versus sugar containing foods.
Health Benefit No. 2: Frequent consumption of sugars contributes to tooth demineralisation. Consumption of foods containing isomaltulose instead of other sugars may help tooth mineralisation by decreasing tooth demineralisation.
